Neuroverse 14. A Podcast by Neuroverse: Tools for Looking into the Brain - Neural Manifolds and Restorative Neurotechnologies (Dr Juan Gallego)

In the fourteenth episode of Tools for Looking into the Brain, produced in collaboration with Neuroverse, Carolina and Clara are joined by Dr Juan Gallego, a systems neuroscientist whose research focuses on how the brain controls and learns movement. He is based at the Champalimaud Foundation's Centre for Restorative Neurotechnology, where he leads the NeoCybernetics Lab, continuing his work on the neural basis of movement while bridging fundamental and applied neuroscience.

In January 2020, he joined Imperial College London's Department of Bioengineering as an Associate Professor, where he led a research group combining behavioural experiments, large-scale neural recordings, data analysis, and computational modelling to better understand motor learning and control. Throughout his career, he has published more than 35 peer-reviewed articles and secured funding from the European Commission, UK research councils, ARIA, and the European Research Council (ERC).

Carolina and Clara are both neuroscientists and curious about the world and our perception of it. Their love of exploring ideas and building connections across disciplines drew them to the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience. Together, they established Neuroverse as a platform for exploring and sharing ideas within and beyond neuroscience. Their goal is to create content that is accessible and engaging for both scientists and non-scientists alike.
