Position: Postdoctoral Position at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
Location: Bethesda, Maryland, USA
Closing date: until position filled
The role
The NIAAA are seeking talented and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellows to join our team at the Section of Neural Circuits. The mission of the Section of Neural Circuits is to understand how genetic and environmental insults alter the input to, computation in, and output of biological circuits to cause neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, epilepsy and attentiondeficit/hyperactivity disorder. With this fundamental understanding of circuits, we aim to develop novel molecular and biochemical approaches to repair or optimize network output at nodes within neural networks that are prone to dysregulation.
This is an NIH-funded position for up to five years. The research will focus on the functional analysis of ex vivo and in vivo neural network activity in autism mouse models. Preference will be given to applicants with more than three years of experience in at least two of the following areas: brain slice electrophysiology, confocal microscopy, in vivo application of optogenetics or chemogenetics, and mouse behavioral analysis.
How to apply
Interested applicants should submit an application composed of:
1) a cover letter detailing previous research achievements and interests,
2) a CV, and
3) the names and contact information (e-mail and phone) of three references familiar with their work and qualifications. Please submit the application to Michelle Antoine.
