Scientifica’s top places to grab a bite during FENS 2016

Copenhagen isn’t known as the cheapest place to go out for food, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great value for money places to eat in the city.

To help you find some good value food during the FENS Forum 2016, Scientifica has collated a list of some of our favourite places that won’t break the bank (well most of them won’t anyway).

The area surrounding the conference centre doesn’t have a huge number of eateries, but we’ve found a few that are within walking distance and still serve some decent fare. We’ve also picked a few around the city centre, so grab a bike and take a look around!

At the bottom of the page we’ve provided a map showing the location of all the restaurants on the list and the Bella Center.

Near the Bella Center

Sund Bid

Light Bites

Around the corner from the Bella Center, Sund Bid is a salad bar that also serves bagels and sandwiches. A great place to grab some simple, fresh and light food during lunch, and a nice way to take a break from the conference centre.

Ørestads Boulevard 74, +45 32620052, open 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Mon – Sun

Rasoi

Indian Restaurant

Also right next the conference centre, Rasoi is a slightly pricey, but very pleasant place to go for your dinner after a long day of neuroscience talks. Serving freshly made, traditional Indian cuisine, this is an excellent choice for those who don’t want to stray too far from the Bella Center. The terrace, next to the river, is particularly pleasant on a warm summer evening.

Ørestads Boulevard 55, +45 69 14 94 45, open 5:00 – 10:00 pm Mon – Sun

Rambla – Bar & Grill

Spanish Restaurant

Slightly further South (but well within walking distance of the conference) and opposite the Field’s shopping centre, Rambla is inspired by modern Barcelona. The restaurant serves hot and warm tapas dishes every night of the week, including some incredible Spanish Jamón.

Arne Jacobsens Allé 9, +45 32 62 06 20, open 5:30 pm – Midnight Mon - Sun

Ismageriet

Ice Cream

After a long hot day of talking neuroscience, you probably deserve a treat. In which case, you should definitely head over to Ismageriet. The parlours goal is to produce the finest ice cream in the world, and according to some reviews it’s already scored.

Field’s

Various

Slightly further south, the Field’s shopping mall has a number of food outlets, from well-known fast food franchises to sit down restaurants. Spend an evening shopping and eating without going all the way into the centre of Copenhagen.

Noma

Scandinavian Restaurant

If you’re feeling really extravagant, then you could always try Noma, voted 2016’s 5th Best Restaurant in the World by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. This modern Scandinavian restaurant is incredibly popular and, unsurprisingly, very expensive. Getting a reservation might be a bit tricky, but they have shared tables on certain nights. Book well in advance to get a spot.
