The Busche lab (buschelab.com) employs molecular, optical, electrophysiological and behavioural methods to reveal the cellular and circuit determinants of the devastating learning and memory impairments observed in individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and related dementing illnesses. This is an exciting time to be working in this area as those methods allow us to monitor and manipulate activity and trace connections in defined circuits and cell types, and thus offer a completely new way to study dementia.
We are now looking for a highly-motivated and proactive individual to lead an exciting project aimed at the deep phenotyping of the impairments of hippocampal cells and circuits in models of AD using in vivo electrophysiology, 2-photon microscopic imaging, light-sheet imaging and transcriptomic analyses.
The successful candidate will be self-directed with excellent research skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team of researchers while maintaining independent thinking and initiative. This is an excellent opportunity to work independently on a high impact, state-of-the-art project in a stimulating and social international research environment, undertaking world-class science under the guidance of a leader in Alzheimer’s pathophysiology. The appointee is expected to determine the direction of the project and make significant conceptual contributions.
