The University of Massachusetts are seeking talented and highly motivated PhD for a postdoc in development and plasticity of visual pathways in the new laboratory of Professor Sarah Pallas.
This NSF and DARPA funded position will provide the qualified candidate with the opportunity to gain research skills across systems, cellular, and molecular neuroscience, using several mammalian species as subjects. The lab is well positioned to address long-standing questions about the interactions between sensory experience and genetic programs during development, plasticity, and evolution of the visual and auditory pathways. Translational aspects involve mechanisms of visual perception, recovery from traumatic brain injury, developmental brain disorders, and optic nerve regeneration. Applicants should have a PhD degree in a related field (e.g. Neuroscience, Biology, Biophysics, Biopsychology, or Bioengineering), demonstrated skill in in vivo electrophysiology, and evidence of productivity. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team is expected. Strong writing and communication skills are essential.
