Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Closing date: Open until filled

The Williams Lab in the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at the MSU Grand Rapids Research Center is seeking to hire a (Postdoctoral) Research Associate specializing in neuronal electrophysiology.

They invite those with interest and at least three years experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology to consider joining their research team in the new Grand Rapids Research Center, located within a small city with renowned safety, affordability, and livability. The new team member will help achieve their goal of determining the role of neurodevelopmental disorder candidate genes (such as those implicated in autism, intellectual disability, and epilepsy) in synapse formation and function. They specialize in the design and application of viral and transgenic tools to understand the molecular mechanisms of synapse development. Therefore, while this position can offer training in diverse techniques such as cloning, biochemistry, and microscopy; it could also/instead extend an opportunity to develop further specialized expertise in electrophysiology.

The start date is negotiable, the expertise you bring to the table is not. If your PhD / Doctorate has not been defended, a defense date is acceptable. In addition to competitive compensation and benefits, the right candidate will enjoy access to new equipment and facilities. They are happy to provide personal references to former colleagues and trainees with respect to the mentorship style and capabilities.
