An NIH-supported postdoctoral fellowship is available in the laboratory of Geoff Swanson in the Department of Pharmacology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. They are investigating how kainate receptors contribute to neuronal and circuit-level development in the central and peripheral nervous system, and how disrupted signaling through these receptors leads to human neurodevelopmental disorders. The lab uses new and established mouse models, behavioral and cellular approaches, and brain slice patch-clamp electrophysiology and optogenetics.
The postdoctoral fellow will join a highly interactive neuroscience community and will work as part of a team that includes members of other laboratories in the Departments of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neurology at Northwestern University. The successful applicant will be a neuroscientist with experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology.
