Introducing ChromoFlex: The flexible solution for multiple dye two-photon imaging


ChromoFlex is Scientifica’s brand new addition to its multiphoton imaging collection enabling the simultaneous imaging of up to four different colour dyes with the increased sensitivity of GaAsP photomultiplier tubes (PMTs).


Improved efficiency

The new optical design above the objective lens allows for the collection of light from ±8o from a 20 mm exit aperture. This increases overall efficiency by up to 10% in comparison to the original multiphoton detection unit, for better examination of weak fluorescent signals.


Liquid light guide technology

The two-metre liquid light guide (LLG) allows placement of the detection module remotely on your antivibration table or another nearby surface. Additionally, the LLG acts as a single optical transmission medium, in a similar way to a single silica fibre. However, the larger diameter allows the delivery of higher power levels and the transmission efficiency is not limited by the dead space between bundles of silica fibres.

The light guide consists of a high refractive index liquid in a sealed polymer jacket with stainless steel end caps containing polished quartz windows covered with an anti-reflective coating. It is suitable for the transmission of all visible wavelengths.


Based on researcher’s needs

The modular assembly is similar to the award-winning design of the Multiphoton Imaging System and the collection module attaches directly to Scientifica’s SliceScope upright microscope. Choose between a 2, 3 or 4 PMT system depending on your experimental requirements and upgrade as necessary for more complex studies.

ChromoFlex is fully compatible with Scientifica’s two-photon acquisition software, SciScan, which will collect data from all the PMTs simultaneously.

Designed and built in collaboration with researchers, SciScan can be used to control all of Scientifica‘s galvo and resonant scanning systems for both in vivo and in vitro imaging applications.
