Objectives

  • To organise production according to demand and quality standards
  • To ensure Scientifica goods are produced on time for distribution in a profitable manner

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Production Controller to Issue to section leaders and area managers the manufacturing plan through MRP, W/O and work-to-lists to supply customer orders in a timely manner within ISO and national standards
  • Advise the Production Controller & Senior Managers of delays and issues around achieving the manufacturing plan
  • Develop internal relationships to create confidence in the information flow from Operations
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal operations staff on issues with works order & customer shortages and to highlight any delays in delivering to the manufacturing plan
  • Issue the operational plan to all section leaders & managers to achieve business objectives and pro-actively ‘push’ works orders into production
  • Liaise with Sales in the absence of the Production Controller & Supply Chain Manager
  • Ensure the smooth distribution of W/O and Work-to-Lists on a daily / weekly basis as necessary
  • Identify opportunities that would improve process output
  • Assist in setting up the production schedule to optimised component route, EBQ MTO & ROP in the manufacturing system so that work progresses through the factory in an efficient manner
  • Identify weekly shortages for expediting through the supply chain and material stores
  • Ensure stores are achieving their KPI in W/O completion rate and releasing / issue component kits to the production facility
  • Maintaining and updating computer records
  • Identify decreasing product lead-time opportunities
  • Coordinate with Purchasing on MRP/ERP activities & procedures
  • Provide cover for other functions within your control and assist purchasing as necessary to achieve Scientifica objectives
  • Complete month end analysis of planning performance and issue reports as necessary

Key Performance Indicators

  • Issue In-house components and assembly requirements following MRP/ERP processing
  • On-time Delivery of customer orders to achieve 90% annually
  • Ensure the stores & kitting systems are in place to achieve 100% kitting efficiency

Qualifications/Training

Minimum 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (or equivalent) 

Level 3 accreditation in a technical or commercial course or similar European qualification would be beneficial

Experience Required

  • Has come from a predominately production environment or machine room background, manufacturing high end instruments for OEMs
  • Significant experience within a production, supply chain role
  • Knowledge of production scheduling and planning systems using MRP / ERP processes, knowledge of SAGE a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of material handling processes for component and finished goods storage and dispatch
  • Experienced working in a small team of stores & dispatch personnel
  • Has experience in manufacturing products and processes around an ISO accredited manufacturing organisation
  • Extensive experience and expertise in multiple kitting processes and can arrange picking lists to minimise time & cost

  • Understands & can explain EBQ, MTO, ROP, etc., philosophies and their benefits to an organisation.
  • Must be pro-active in his/her approach and be prepared to work the necessary hours to achieve the business objectives and job function.
  • Have an assertive nature when handling complex issues that need to be resolved and the ability to manage upwards.
