Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate

The laboratories of Dr Mike Ashby and Prof Jack Mellor at the University of Bristol are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their group to investigate the neuronal and synaptic mechanisms underpinning how the brain adapts to the ever-changing environment.
In this project, they are particularly interested in how neuromodulators influence dendritic spikes and synaptic plasticity to control adaptation of neuronal coding in the cortex. Experiments will combine in vivo electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging and optogenetics to study how dendritic spikes lead to synaptic plasticity and adaptation in the somatosensory cortex.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in a relevant discipline. Experience with in vivo electrophysiology or 2-photon imaging techniques is essential, but please get in contact with any queries about the suitability of your experience for the project.
